POSITION SUMMARY:

The cook provides meals according to the guidelines set forth by the Board of Health and licensing requirements. This position is responsible for posting menus as required, following recipes, as well as preparing meals and snacks as directed. Additional responsibilities include prep work, daily cleaning, ordering, rotating, and stocking incoming food. Weekend work is required.

The pay for this position will range between $14.00 and $14.50 per hour based on experience.*APPLICANTS MUST BE ABLE TO PASS MULTIPLE BACKGROUND CHECKS*

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Cooking and Cleaning (70%)

  • Efficiently prepare meals and snacks according to established guidelines while following a set schedule
  • Ability to meet dietary needs of residents with special diets
  • Knowledge of basic cooking and cleaning practices with ability to comprehend and prepare meals according to recipes
  • Effectively clean and sanitize all work surfaces and equipment according to guidelines
  • Order, rotate and stock incoming food.Label, date and properly store foods to avoid potentially hazardous food conditions

 

Accurate Record Keeping (30%)

    • Maintain accurate temperature logs for all temperature controlled units
    • Complete cleaning logs on a monthly, weekly, and monthly basis
    • Produce daily food production logs
    • Prepare orders based on need kitchen need on a weekly or bi-weekly basis
    • Maintenance of serv safe certification

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • High School Diploma
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • 3-6 months cooking experience required with 1-2 years preferred
  • Food Protection Certification and/or ability to pass Certification
  • Good organizational skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skill
  • Flexibility in scheduling
  • Ability to work with minimal direct supervision
  • Skilled in cooking and running kitchen
  • Ability to provide meal planning within budget parameters
  • Knowledge in the writing of menus, according to guidelines
  • Ability to work in partnership with other team members
  • Proven knowledge/ability to respond appropriately to cultural differences present among organizations employees and service population
  • Valid Driver's License and Insurance is required

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Kitchen environment
  • Most time spent standing, walking, bending, lifting
  • Minimal exposure to PC and phone
